**MUMBAI, INDIA** – Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar secured a resounding victory in the Baramati constituency in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, defeating his nephew Yugendra Pawar by a massive margin of 100,899 votes. The final tally saw Ajit Pawar garnering 181,132 votes to Yugendra Pawar’s 80,233.

The election was highly anticipated, framed as a family feud between Ajit Pawar and his uncle, Sharad Pawar, who had fielded Yugendra. Ajit Pawar’s victory is seen as a significant win for the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, of which his faction of the NCP is a part. His strong showing in Baramati comes amidst a broader Mahayuti victory, with the alliance predicted to secure a majority of seats in the state assembly.
