Sat Nov 23 09:14:43 UTC 2024: ## AIMIM Candidate Secures Record Lead in Aurangabad East Assembly Constituency
**Mumbai:** Imtiyaz Jalil Syed of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is leading by a record margin in the Aurangabad East constituency in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. With 72,929 votes, Syed currently holds a substantial lead of 31,850 votes over his nearest rival, BJP candidate Atul Moreshwari. Samajwadi Party’s Abdul Ghaffar Qadri Syed is in third place, followed by Congress’ Lahhu Hanumanthrao Sewale.
Syed, the Lok Sabha MP for Aurangabad from 2019-2024, benefited from the support of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) in this election. While the SDPI fielded Asghar Basha Thamboli in the Hadapsar constituency, where NCP candidate Chetan Vitthal Tuppe emerged victorious, their support proved crucial in bolstering AIMIM’s chances in Aurangabad East.
