**VISAKHAPATNAM, November 22, 2024** – Residents living along the Mudasarlova canal in Visakhapatnam are invited to a community meeting this Friday to discuss the canal’s impact on their lives. The meeting, organized by the Committee for a Sustainable Visakhapatnam and hosted by the Laya Resource Centre, will take place at the Visakhapatnam Public Library from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
The focus will be on sharing experiences, identifying existing community efforts to address the issues, and collaboratively planning future actions. According to Manjula Boyina of the Laya Resource Centre, the canal, a natural stormwater drain, has deteriorated over time, becoming a significant source of pollution as it carries waste into the sea. The meeting aims to understand the extent of this impact and formulate collective strategies for improvement.
