**Thane, Maharashtra –** A 30-year-old man has been arrested in Thane district for the death of his three-year-old niece, whose body was discovered on Thursday. The girl had been missing since November 18th from her home in Prem Nagar, Ulhasnagar.
Police say the accused confessed to causing the child’s death, claiming it was accidental. He reportedly stated that he playfully slapped the girl, causing her to hit her head on a kitchen slab. Panicked, he allegedly attempted to burn the body before disposing of it in nearby bushes.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. While the accused claims the incident was accidental, police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and will present their findings to the court.
