Fri Nov 22 07:50:00 UTC 2024: ## Veteran Malayalam Actor Meghanathan Passes Away at 60

**KOZHIKODE, November 21, 2024** – Veteran Malayalam actor Meghanathan passed away at a private hospital in Kozhikode on Thursday at the age of 60. While not a prolific actor, Meghanathan, son of National Award-winning actor Balan K. Nair, made a notable impact in his five-decade-long career, primarily playing villainous roles.

Though he followed in his father’s footsteps, Meghanathan carved his own niche with memorable performances in films such as *Chenkol* and *Ee Puzhayum Kadannu*. His career began with *Asthram*, directed by P.N. Menon, and he gained recognition in the critically acclaimed *Panchagni*, directed by Hariharan and featuring a script by M.T. Vasudevan Nair. In *Panchagni*, he played the troubled brother of Indira, a strong female character portrayed by Geetha.

Director Hariharan, who worked with Meghanathan on multiple occasions, noted that while Meghanathan possessed the physicality and voice for success, he was not proactive in seeking roles. Despite his talent, he never achieved widespread stardom, though he continued to appear in films such as *Action Hero Biju* and *Kooman*, reminding audiences of his presence in the Malayalam film industry. His passing marks the loss of a respected actor who left a lasting impression despite not achieving the highest level of fame.
