Fri Nov 22 08:56:10 UTC 2024: ## Veteran Anderson Enters IPL Auction; Archer Snubbed
**London** – Veteran England fast bowler James Anderson will be entering the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction in November, while several other notable English players, including Jofra Archer, have been left out. The auction, taking place on November 24th and 25th, will feature 574 players, a significant reduction from the initial 1,574.
Anderson, 42, who retired from international cricket in July, is among 37 England-qualified players in the auction. His inclusion is surprising given his lack of recent T20 experience. He last played a T20 match in 2014 and has a reserve price of approximately £117,000.
The notable absence of Jofra Archer from the shortlist is generating considerable buzz. The reasons behind his omission remain unclear, although the timing could conflict with a potential Test cricket return in 2025. New IPL rules prevent players who haven’t been included in the auction from participating in the 2025 or 2026 seasons. This also affects Joe Root, Mark Wood, and Ben Stokes, who were ineligible due to these new regulations.
Other notable England players in the auction include Jos Buttler (highest reserve price: £187,000), Liam Livingstone, Harry Brook, and Sam Curran. The 2025 IPL dates are yet to be confirmed, but the 2024 tournament ran from March 22nd to May 26th.
