**GOA, INDIA** – A major search and rescue operation is underway off the coast of Goa after an Indian fishing vessel collided with an Indian Navy submarine. Eleven of the thirteen crew members aboard the fishing vessel *Marthoma* have been rescued, but two remain missing.

The incident occurred approximately 70 nautical miles off the Goa coast. The fishing vessel collided with a Scorpene-class submarine, a sophisticated vessel integral to India’s naval capabilities. The Ministry of Defence confirmed the collision and stated that six naval ships and aircraft have been deployed in the search. The Coast Guard has also been assisting in the ongoing rescue efforts, coordinated by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre Mumbai (MRCC).

The cause of the collision is currently under investigation. While the Scorpene-class submarines are known for their advanced stealth technology, including acoustic silencing and precision-guided weaponry, the circumstances leading to the accident are yet to be determined.
