Fri Nov 22 07:48:19 UTC 2024: ## India’s Tour of Australia Begins With a Dismal First Innings

**Perth, Australia:** India’s tour of Australia got off to a disastrous start on the first day of the first Test match in Perth. Winning the toss and electing to bat, India were bundled out for a paltry 150 runs. Their innings was dominated by Australia’s Josh Hazlewood, who took four wickets. Nitish Reddy top-scored for India with 41 runs.

Australia’s reply didn’t begin much better, as Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Nathan McAndrew LBW in the third over for 14 runs, giving India an early breakthrough.

The Indian batting line-up struggled throughout the day. Several batsmen failed to make significant contributions, with Virat Kohli also falling victim to Hazlewood for his 10th international dismissal of the star batsman. Rishabh Pant (37) and Reddy offered some resistance in a 48-run partnership for the 7th wicket but ultimately, it was not enough to save India from a disappointing first day.

The day belonged to Australia, who ended the day’s play firmly in control, having taken early wickets and restricted India to a very low total. The match is poised to be a challenging one for India.
