**Mumbai, India –** The investigation into the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique has taken a new turn with the arrest of Akashdeep Gill in Punjab. Gill, the 24th arrest in the case, allegedly provided logistical support to the shooters and revealed a sophisticated communication strategy during interrogation.
Gill confessed to using the mobile internet hotspot of a farm laborer, Balwinder, to communicate with key figures involved in the assassination, including Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. He also used the hotspot to contact other accused, namely Shubham Lonkar, Zeeshan Akhtar, and alleged main shooter Shiv Kumar Gautam. This method, he explained, allowed him to mask his location by keeping his phone in flight mode.
Mumbai Crime Branch is currently searching for Gill’s mobile phone, believing it contains crucial evidence. Meanwhile, the police custody of alleged shooter Shiv Kumar Gautam has been extended to November 23rd after he refused to cooperate with the investigation and the murder weapon remains unrecovered. Four other individuals – Anurag Kashyap, Gyan Prakash Tripathi, Akash Srivastava, and Akhilendra Pratap Singh – were previously arrested for allegedly aiding Gautam’s escape to Nepal.
