Fri Nov 22 08:08:11 UTC 2024: ## Coldplay Concert Sends Ahmedabad Hotel Prices Soaring, Prompts Cancellation Threats

**Ahmedabad, India –** The upcoming Coldplay concert in Ahmedabad in January 2025 has sent hotel prices skyrocketing, with one hotel even threatening to cancel existing bookings unless guests agree to inflated rates. The British band’s “Music of the Spheres World Tour” will also stop in Mumbai.

The controversy erupted after Ashish Singh, who had a pre-booked stay at Itsy Hotels Shree Krishna Palace from January 24th to 26th, received a notice demanding a significantly higher price – over Rs 10,000 – to maintain his reservation. The hotel attributed the increase to “market conditions” driven by the high demand for rooms during the concert. Singh shared his experience on X (formerly Twitter), sparking outrage. The hotel offered a complimentary meal as compensation.

This isn’t an isolated incident. Another Ahmedabad hotel cancelled a pre-existing booking for Rs 1800, citing the Coldplay concert as the reason, anticipating a price increase to Rs 18,000.

The surge in hotel prices highlights the intense anticipation surrounding Coldplay’s return to India after a nine-year absence. While the concerts are generating excitement, the resulting price gouging has left some potential attendees frustrated and questioning the ethics of exploiting high demand.
