**Vijayawada, November 20, 2024** – Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan accused the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government of neglecting safe drinking water supply, claiming a lack of investment in rural areas. During a review meeting with Panchayat Raj and Rural Water Supply (RWS) officials on Tuesday, Mr. Kalyan highlighted the alleged failure to replace even a single filter bed in five years and the minimal spending of less than ₹4 lakh in villages.
Mr. Kalyan emphasized the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government’s commitment to providing safe drinking water to every household. He directed officials to ensure timely replacement of filter beds and adherence to quality standards, citing the previous government’s negligence as a contributing factor to the spread of diseases like diarrhoea. He stressed the importance of completing maintenance work within the stipulated timeframe.
The Deputy CM showcased water samples from Valiyavarthipadu village in Gudivada constituency, illustrating the improvements achieved after maintenance work. He cited Gudivada’s approach as a model for other areas in achieving the government’s goal of safe drinking water for all.
