**Mangaluru, November 20, 2024** – Mangaluru City Corporation Mayor Manoj Kumar addressed several citizen complaints during his monthly phone-in program on Tuesday. Key issues raised included inadequate water supply, the resurgence of illegal street vendors, unpaved roads, and a growing street dog problem.
A resident of Katipalla, Neetha, reported that her area, Katipalla III Block, has received water only once every four days for the past two months, forcing residents to buy expensive water from tankers at ₹900 per tanker. The Mayor acknowledged a potential distribution problem and promised to address the issue.
Another caller, Alwyn D’Souza from Kankanady, criticized the corporation’s eviction drive against street vendors, claiming that vendors who were removed two months ago have returned to their previous locations. He questioned the effectiveness of the corporation’s efforts and the role of health officials. The Mayor responded that the eviction drive would resume.
Road repairs were also a major concern. Mohammed Raqiq, a trader, highlighted the lack of asphalt on the 150-meter 41st Cross Road in Hampankatta for over 15 years. Another caller requested road repairs on the Urwa Stores-Ashoknagar Road.
Finally, a caller urged the Mayor to take action against the increasing number of street dogs in the city. The Mayor’s office did not immediately comment on specific timelines for addressing these issues.
