**Mumbai, November 20, 2024** – Maharashtra held its Assembly elections today, with over 9.7 crore registered voters casting their ballots across more than 1 lakh polling stations. This represents a significant increase from the 96,654 stations used in 2019, reflecting the expanded voter list which includes 5 crore men, 4.69 crore women, 6,101 transgender individuals, 6.41 lakh voters with disabilities, and 1.16 lakh service voters.

Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan was among the first to vote, urging all citizens, especially youth and women, to participate in the democratic process. Similar calls for high voter turnout came from prominent figures including RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, who shortened a trip to ensure his participation, and BJP national president JP Nadda, who highlighted the importance of youth engagement in building a “Viksit Bharat” and a $1 trillion economy for Maharashtra. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also issued an appeal via X, emphasizing the significance of voter participation.

Deputy Chief Minister and NCP president Ajit Pawar, while campaigning in Baramati, expressed confidence in his electoral prospects and addressed allegations of cryptocurrency use to rig elections involving his cousin, NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule, and MPCC chief Nana Patole. He stated that an inquiry would clarify the matter.
