**New Delhi, November 20, 2024** – The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the notification for the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) December 2024 session. Applications are open online from November 19th to December 10th, 2024.

The UGC-NET exam, conducted twice yearly (June and December), determines eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor positions in universities and colleges, as well as PhD admissions. This year’s December session will cover 85 subjects and will be conducted online.

Candidates with at least 55% marks in their Master’s degree are eligible to apply. Relaxations are provided for OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender candidates (50% marks). The age limit for JRF is 30 years as of January 1, 2025; there is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor positions.

The application fee is ₹1150 for general category candidates, ₹600 for EWS and OBC-NCL candidates, and ₹325 for SC, ST, PwD, and Third Gender candidates.

The exam comprises two papers with objective-type, multiple-choice questions. Paper 1 (100 marks, 50 questions) focuses on reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness. Paper 2 (200 marks, 100 questions) covers the candidate’s chosen subject. The exam duration is 3 hours.
