**Chennai, November 20, 2024** – The Tamil Nadu government has appointed advocate G. Krishnaraja as the new Director of Prosecution. This follows the request of State Public Prosecutor Hasan Mohamed Jinnah to be relieved from the additional charge of the post due to excessive workload.
Mr. Krishnaraja, a Madurai native and member of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry since 1990, was selected following a recommendation from a selection committee headed by a retired Madras High Court judge. The committee interviewed applicants in October. Before his appointment, Mr. Krishnaraja served as Additional Public Prosecutor for the Chennai Metropolitan area, Additional Government Pleader, and standing counsel for the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation.
