Wed Nov 20 06:00:00 UTC 2024: ## PlayStation Portal Gets Cloud Streaming in Beta Update
**SAN FRANCISCO, CA –** PlayStation gamers can now stream select PS5 titles to their PlayStation Portal handheld device, thanks to a new beta update rolling out today. The highly anticipated feature, previously limited to local PS5 streaming via Wi-Fi, now allows access to games from the PlayStation Plus Premium Game Catalog.
However, this cloud streaming functionality comes with some limitations. It’s currently available only to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers in a select group of countries (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and United States). Furthermore, several features are unavailable during the beta, including Game Trials, party voice chat, game invites for certain titles, 3D audio, in-game purchases, and PS4 and PS3 game streaming. Child accounts are also excluded.
Minimum internet speeds of 7 Mbps (720p) and 13 Mbps (1080p) are required for streaming. Sony notes that this is a beta, and further improvements are expected. The update also includes audio enhancements, such as a lower minimum volume and adjustable PlayStation Link device settings. This expansion of the PlayStation Portal’s capabilities follows the launch of cloud streaming on PS5 consoles last year.
