Wed Nov 20 07:27:34 UTC 2024: ## NSE Holiday Trends as Indian Markets Close for Maharashtra Elections

**MUMBAI, INDIA** – A surge in Google searches for “NSE holidays” dominated Wednesday morning’s trending topics as Indian currency, debt, and equity markets observed a holiday due to the Maharashtra state elections. Google Trends reported over 50,000 searches, a 1000% spike within 20 minutes. The markets will reopen on Thursday.

Despite the closure, Tuesday saw a positive market performance. The Nifty 50 index rose 0.28%, ending a seven-session decline, while the Sensex gained 0.31% after a four-session fall. Analysts attributed this to a short-term rally following recent market corrections.

The Indian Rupee, however, hit a record low against the US dollar before closing down 0.04% at 84.4150, impacted by foreign bank dollar bids and risk aversion. The 10-year benchmark bond yield saw a marginal decrease to 6.8125%, mirroring a decline in US Treasury yields and following comments from India’s finance minister on interest rates.

In unrelated news, a new film and series production company, Promise, backed by Peter Chernin and Andreessen Horowitz, announced it will utilize generative AI tools, reflecting a broader Hollywood trend of incorporating AI to streamline production and reduce costs.
