**Mumbai, November 20, 2024** – Maharashtra is holding its Assembly elections today, with 97 million eligible voters choosing their representatives from among 4,136 candidates vying for 288 seats. The ruling Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, Ajit Pawar’s NCP faction, and Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, faces off against the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance of Shiv Sena (UBT), Sharad Pawar’s NCP faction, and the Congress.

Voting is taking place across 100,186 polling stations located at 52,789 locations statewide. This includes 388 “pink polling booths” managed entirely by women, and 530 model polling stations. The Election Commission has made provisions for 299 polling booths managed by Persons with Disabilities (PwD). The state boasts a significant youth electorate, with 18.5 million voters aged 18-29, including 2.09 million first-time voters.

Vote counting will commence on November 23rd. Voters are urged to verify their names on the voter list and correct any errors before polling day.
