**New Delhi, November 20, 2024** – Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi today issued fervent appeals to voters in Maharashtra and Jharkhand to participate in the ongoing assembly elections. Kharge urged Maharashtra voters to reject “opportunistic politics” that harms farmers and youth, emphasizing the importance of preserving the state’s pride and decades of progress. He called on Jharkhand voters to protect their rights, particularly concerning water, forest, land, and tribal culture, highlighting the significance of social justice over polarization. Both leaders stressed the importance of youth participation in the democratic process.

Gandhi echoed these sentiments, urging Maharashtra voters to support the Mahavikas Aghadi to safeguard the state’s constitution and protect jobs and farmer’s interests. He highlighted the INDIA bloc’s five guarantees as a pathway to prosperity. In his appeal to Jharkhand voters, Gandhi emphasized the importance of protecting natural resources and promised improved lives through the INDIA bloc’s seven guarantees, including the Maiya Samman Yojana.

Polling is underway for the single-phase Maharashtra election and the second phase of the Jharkhand election. Results are expected on November 23, 2024.
