**Mumbai, India – November 19, 2024** – The Indian stock market (BSE and NSE) will be closed on November 20th, 2024, due to the Maharashtra Assembly Elections. This closure was announced by the exchanges following the election date announcement. Banks in Maharashtra will also be closed, although digital banking services will remain operational.
The closure adds a third holiday to November’s calendar, alongside Laxmi Pooja (November 1st) and Guru Nanak Jayanti (November 15th). Liquor shops will also be closed across the state to maintain public order during voting. The next stock market holiday is scheduled for Christmas on December 25th.
