**New York, NY –** Noor Nabi Chowdhury (56) of Cheektowaga, New York, and his brother Mohammad Rahman (36) of Dhaka, Bangladesh, were indicted by a federal grand jury on November 15th for operating 247TVStream, an illegal online streaming service. Chowdhury was arrested and arraigned; Rahman remains at large.

The indictment alleges the brothers ran the subscription-based service for years, generating over $7 million in revenue while causing over $100 million in damages to copyright holders by illegally streaming copyrighted content, including live sports and television shows. They are also charged with aggravated identity theft for allegedly using a victim’s identity to facilitate the operation.

The Department of Justice (DOJ), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and international law enforcement partners seized 247TVStream’s domain names and servers, effectively shutting down the operation. The DOJ praised the collaboration with UK and Canadian authorities in this action.

If convicted, Chowdhury and Rahman face a maximum of 40 years in prison and additional mandatory sentences. The case highlights the DOJ’s commitment to protecting intellectual property rights and combating online piracy. The indictment is merely an allegation, and the brothers are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
