Tue Nov 19 16:05:50 UTC 2024: **BJP Files Election Complaint Against Aaditya Thackeray for Alleged MCC Violation**

Mumbai, November 19, 2024 – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) filed a formal complaint with the Election Commission (EC) today against Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Aaditya Thackeray, accusing him of violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The complaint centers on a Marathi-language social media post made by Mr. Thackeray earlier today, which the BJP alleges contained unsubstantiated accusations against the party, aimed at discrediting them during the mandated 48-hour silence period before Maharashtra’s Assembly elections.

BJP Mumbai secretary Pratik Karpe stated that the post constitutes a breach of EC guidelines prohibiting campaigning within 48 hours of the vote. He described Mr. Thackeray’s actions as an attempt to influence public opinion and spread hatred through baseless allegations. The BJP is demanding a thorough investigation and the suspension of Mr. Thackeray’s social media account to prevent further violations. Voting in Maharashtra is scheduled for Wednesday.
