**Nagpur, Maharashtra –** Former Maharashtra Home Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Anil Deshmukh was injured in an alleged stone attack on Monday night. The incident occurred around 8 pm near Belphata on Jalalkheda Road in Nagpur district, as Deshmukh was returning from an election rally in support of his son, Salil Deshmukh, who is contesting the Katol Assembly constituency.
Police reports indicate unidentified individuals threw stones at Deshmukh’s car, causing injuries that required immediate medical attention. He was first taken to Katol Civil Hospital and later transferred to Alexis Hospital. Nagpur Rural Superintendent of Police Harssh Poddar confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway to identify the perpetrators.
A video surfaced online showing Deshmukh with a bleeding forehead, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating the attack. The BJP has denied any involvement, with BJP candidate Charan Thakur calling the incident a “drama.”
NCP MP Supriya Sule strongly condemned the attack, blaming the BJP-led state government for the deterioration of law and order. She demanded immediate arrest of those responsible. The incident has raised concerns about escalating political violence during the ongoing election campaign.
