**KOLKATA, INDIA (November 20, 2024)** – Kolkata is gearing up for a month-long arts extravaganza, the fifth edition of the AMI Arts Festival, starting November 21st and running through December 22nd. Organized by the Kolkata Centre for Creativity (KCC), the festival will feature over 200 artists and performers across multiple venues, including the Victoria Memorial, Indian Museum, and Priya Cinema.

The festival, whose name “AMI” means “I” in Bengali, aims to celebrate the diverse identities and cultures of India. This year’s lineup includes renowned names such as Manav Kaul, Parambrata Chatterjee, Shujaat Khan, and bands like Indian Ocean and Chandrabindoo. A diverse range of events is planned, encompassing exhibitions, dance, music, theatre, film screenings, workshops, and talks.

A highlight will be the “From Fields to Folk: A Journey through Rural Heritage” exhibition and seminar at the Indian Museum, celebrating World Heritage Week and showcasing the work of over 20 rural Bengal museums. Other notable events include the Affordable Art Fair, showcasing local artists; Karigari, focusing on traditional crafts; and “My Kolkata in Kolkata 5.0,” a photography exhibition in collaboration with the Chennai Photo Biennale.

KCC chairperson Richa Agarwal emphasized the festival’s inclusive nature, highlighting performances by wheelchair-bound individuals, workshops for disadvantaged women and children with disabilities, and special sensory corners to cater to a broad audience. The month-long duration, Agarwal explained, allows for sufficient time to showcase the wide variety of events planned.
