**Kochi, November 19, 2024** – The Muziris Heritage Project (MHP) is hosting a week-long celebration of World Heritage Week, from November 19th to 25th, highlighting Kerala’s rich cultural heritage. The initiative includes free entry to all museums, handicraft centers, memorials, and beaches for students.

A special event for women, a night heritage walk including a museum visit, exhibition, handicrafts display, traditional dinner, and Thiruvathira performance, is scheduled for November 23rd from 5 pm to 8 pm at Paliam Nalukettu. On November 24th, a “Citadel of Faith – Sketch and Walk” program will take place in Kottayil Kovilakom and Chennamangalam. An art workshop incorporating ghazal and art-making will run from November 29th to December 1st at the Kottapuram waterfront and visitor’s centre. Publications on the history of Muziris will also be available at participating museums.

The MHP, launched in 2009 under Kerala Tourism, aims to preserve heritage sites across 150 sq km in the North Paravur-Kodungalloor-Mathilakam area. Its broader mission encompasses historical research, environmental protection, the promotion of handicrafts and art forms, and job creation. The project showcases the legacy of Muziris, a legendary port dating back 2,500 years and a vital hub on the historic spice route. Visitors can explore the numerous heritage sites to experience 3,000 years of Kerala’s history.
