**Chennai, November 19, 2024** – Seven individuals have been arrested in Chennai following a weekend incident where a two-year-old child was injured by a sharp manja thread. Police also apprehended three juveniles who will face proceedings before the Juvenile Justice Board.

The incident occurred Sunday evening in Vyasarpadi when Pugazhvelan, riding on his father’s motorbike, became entangled in a snapped manja thread, sustaining a neck injury requiring seven stitches. Another individual, Jilani, was also injured in the same area.

Manja, a traditional kite-flying thread coated with a mixture of rice glue, tree gum, and an abrasive like powdered glass, is banned in Chennai.
