Mon Nov 18 16:28:07 UTC 2024: ## Rajasthan Power Company Challenges Chhattisgarh Report on Parsa Coal Mine Clearances

**New Delhi, November 18, 2024** – Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL) has disputed a report by the Chhattisgarh State Scheduled Tribes Commission (CSSTC) alleging irregularities in environmental clearances for the Parsa coal mine. The CSSTC report, which recommends canceling forest clearances, claims forged documents were used to secure gram sabha (village council) consent.

RRVUNL countered that the gram sabha approval is under legal review, with no court ruling against the project’s permissions. The company further questioned the report’s legitimacy, citing the absence of the Secretary’s signature, despite the Chairperson and two other members signing it. RRVUNL also criticized the report for relying on the input of a “small group” rather than considering the views of all stakeholders.

The Parsa mine, allotted to RRVUNL and developed by the Adani Group, has faced long-standing opposition from activists and some local residents. This latest challenge adds another layer to the ongoing controversy surrounding the project.
