**Chennai, November 18, 2024** – The Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women (TNCDW) announced today that it has facilitated over ₹305 crore in loans for self-help groups (SHGs) since 2021. This initiative, part of the Tamil Nadu Urban Livelihoods Mission (TNULM), channeled funds through block-level federations. A total of ₹277.97 crore was sanctioned across 317 project proposals submitted to banks. Additionally, ₹27.08 crore was disbursed under the Prime Minister’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat Scheme, benefiting 7,019 urban entrepreneurs.

Furthermore, the TNCDW highlighted the involvement of SHGs in the Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme. Over 3,145 SHG members are managing meal operations in 1,929 schools, providing breakfast to 111,979 children across the state. An additional ₹27.08 crore in capital support was provided to 7,019 women SHG members for small and medium food processing enterprises. The TNCDW’s efforts demonstrate a significant commitment to empowering women through economic opportunities and community development.
