Mon Nov 18 15:54:39 UTC 2024: ## BRS Leader Rao Condemns Telangana Tribal Violence, Questions Silence of National Leaders

**New Delhi, November 18, 2024** – Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao has accused the Congress government in Telangana of oppressing tribal communities and grabbing their land for a pharmaceutical industry. He drew parallels between recent violence against tribals in Lagacherla, Vikarabad district, and incidents in Manipur and Dharavi, questioning the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi alongside tribal villagers from Lagacherla, Rao highlighted alleged police brutality, including forceful home entries and indiscriminate detentions. Many men have fled their homes, fearing further violence. The villagers, some of whom have been displaced, made an emotional appeal for Modi and Gandhi to visit Lagacherla and witness the situation firsthand.

Rao specifically criticized Gandhi, highlighting the discrepancy between his public pronouncements on protecting farmers, tribals, and women and the alleged actions of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He accused Reddy of “crony capitalism” in seizing tribal lands. The BRS leader also questioned Gandhi’s commitment to marginalized communities, demanding accountability from the Congress Chief Minister.

The villagers threatened to remain in Delhi until their demands for justice are met, expressing deep concern about delayed action and the ongoing fear within their community. The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety and well-being of tribal populations in Telangana.
