**Kozhikode, Kerala, November 19, 2024** – The Kozhikode Revenue District School Arts Festival, a significant event considered a precursor to the state-level competition, kicked off today. This year’s festival, taking place for the first time since Kozhikode received UNESCO City of Literature status, will run for five days.
Off-stage events, including drawing, painting, writing competitions, elocution, and quizzes, began today at the Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, Nadakkavu, utilizing 22 venues within the school.
The main on-stage events will commence tomorrow, November 20th, and continue until November 23rd, spread across 20 venues throughout the city, including Malabar Christian College HSS (the main venue), Zamorin’s School, and several other prominent schools.
The festival’s inauguration of the media centre was conducted by noted artist Paul Kallanode, registration by writer V.R. Sudheesh, and the distribution of media badges by Forest Minister A.K. Saseendran. The festival kitchen was inaugurated by Kozhikode Corporation Health Standing Committee chairperson S. Jayasree.
Kozhikode district, a 22-time state champion, narrowly missed the top spot last year, fueling anticipation for this year’s competition. The festival is expected to draw significant attention as it serves as a strong indicator of potential state-level winners.
