Tue Nov 19 06:27:36 UTC 2024: **JEE Advanced Exam Eligibility Reverted to Two Attempts**

HYDERABAD, INDIA – The Joint Admission Board (JAB) has reversed its recent decision to allow students three attempts at the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced, the entrance exam for undergraduate programs at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The JAB, in a meeting on October 15th, announced that the previous rule limiting students to two consecutive attempts will remain in effect.

IIT Kanpur, which administers the JEE Advanced, had initially announced on October 5th that starting in 2025, candidates would be permitted three attempts. However, this decision was rescinded less than two weeks later.

Therefore, students who passed their qualifying exam (like the intermediate exam) in March 2024 or March 2025 will be eligible to take the JEE Advanced exam in May 2024. Those who passed their qualifying exam before March 2024 will not be eligible. The policy remains that students may only take the JEE Advanced exam in the year they pass their qualifying exam and the following year.
