Mon Nov 18 15:41:12 UTC 2024: ## Gaza Death Toll Rises as Israeli Strikes Kill Dozens
**Cairo/Gaza, November 18, 2024** – Israeli military strikes across the Gaza Strip have resulted in the deaths of at least 76 Palestinians in the past 24 hours, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. Monday’s attacks alone claimed the lives of at least 20 Palestinians, including six who perished in strikes targeting tents housing displaced families, medics reported.
Among the deadliest incidents was an airstrike on a tent encampment in the Al-Mawasi coastal area, designated a humanitarian zone, which killed four people, including two children. Further strikes in Rafah and Beit Lahiya resulted in additional casualties. A house in Gaza City was also hit, killing seven and wounding ten. Four more were killed in an airstrike on the Nuseirat camp.
The Israeli military, engaged in ongoing conflict with Hamas since October 2023, stated that the strikes targeted terrorist sites in Beit Lahiya, but offered no comment on the other incidents.
Heartbreaking accounts emerged from Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, where relatives mourned loved ones killed in the attacks on displaced families. Mohammed Aboul Hassan, who lost his brother, described the scene as “brutal,” with civilians, including children, killed despite posing no threat.
Meanwhile, Beit Lahiya’s Kamal Adwan Hospital, under siege by Israeli forces, faces severe shortages of food, medicine, and equipment, hindering its ability to respond to the crisis. The hospital director, Hussam Abu Safiya, described a catastrophic situation, highlighting his inability to reach those trapped under rubble due to a lack of ambulances.
The ongoing conflict, which began on October 7, 2023, with Hamas attacks in southern Israel, has claimed the lives of over 43,800 Palestinians according to the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry, and around 1,200 Israelis. The conflict continues, with both sides reporting significant casualties.
