First established in 1999 by Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh in Trinidad and Tobago, the day now sees participation in over 80 countries. In India, men’s rights advocate Uma Challa has been instrumental in popularizing the event since 2007, bringing awareness to issues such as bias and abuse faced by men.
Beyond celebration, International Men’s Day aims to promote men’s health, both physical and mental, tackling challenges like suicide and toxic masculinity.
