**Rio de Janeiro, Brazil –** Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro on Monday, emphasizing the disproportionate impact of the global food, fuel, and fertilizer crisis on Global South nations. He called for the G20 to prioritize their concerns and challenges in its deliberations.

Modi commended Brazil’s presidency for continuing the “people-centric” approach initiated during India’s G20 presidency, highlighting the continued relevance of the “One Earth, One Family, One Future” theme. He participated in a session focused on social inclusion and the fight against hunger and poverty, which saw the launch of a global alliance supported by over 80 nations to combat these issues. Modi expressed India’s full support for this initiative.

The Prime Minister detailed India’s efforts in addressing hunger and poverty, including lifting 250 million people out of poverty in the last decade and providing free food grains to 800 million citizens. He also highlighted initiatives such as the world’s largest crop insurance scheme benefiting over 40 million farmers and extensive health insurance programs. Furthermore, he emphasized India’s commitment to promoting sustainable agriculture, including organic farming and the development of climate-resilient crop varieties, and its investment in digital agricultural infrastructure.

Modi advocated for reforms in global governance institutions, echoing India’s efforts during its G20 presidency to grant permanent membership to the African Union. He stressed India’s “back to basics and march to the future” approach, combining traditional methods with technological advancements to ensure both food security and nutrition.
