OCALA, FL — A 14-year-old boy, identified as Jesse Stone, has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 91-year-old woman in her Florida home. The attack, which occurred in June, involved the teenager breaking into the victim’s residence, where he beat and sexually assaulted her before fleeing.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Stone after forensic evidence linked him to the crime. While Stone initially denied involvement, he later confessed to entering the home, assaulting the victim, and watching pornography on her iPad. He was identified further by a neighbor’s security footage showing a person in similar clothing jogging near the victim’s home the night of the attack. The victim, who had previously known Stone and considered him a “good boy,” was awakened during the assault.
Sheriff Billy Woods expressed shock and disgust at the crime, stating that the young age of the perpetrator was particularly disturbing. While advocating for accountability, Sheriff Woods also acknowledged compassion for Stone’s family and hoped the incident would lead to intervention that prevents future crimes.
Stone, charged as an adult with sexual assault and burglary with battery, is currently in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice. He is scheduled for sentencing on December 19th.
