Nagpur, Maharashtra – Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh was injured in a stone-pelting attack near Nagpur today. The incident occurred as Deshmukh was returning from a campaign rally in Narkhed for his son, Salil Deshmukh, who is contesting the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. The attack took place on the Katol-Jalalkheda road.
Photos and videos circulating on social media show Deshmukh bleeding from a head wound and his car with a shattered window. He was reportedly seated in the front passenger seat at the time of the attack. While the extent of his injuries is unclear, reports indicate he suffered a head injury.
The attack comes on the last day of campaigning before the November 20th elections. Police have yet to identify the perpetrators or provide details on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
