Sun Nov 17 01:57:35 UTC 2024: ## West Indies Stun England in T20 Thriller, Winning by Five Wickets
**BRIDGETOWN, Barbados** – The West Indies pulled off a stunning victory over England in the fourth T20 international on Saturday, winning by five wickets with six balls to spare. Despite England already having secured the five-match series with three prior wins, the home side delivered a dominant performance, chasing down a challenging 218-run target.
England, who won the toss and elected to bat first, posted a strong total thanks to impressive contributions from Jacob Bethell (62 off 32 balls) and Phil Salt (55 off 35 balls). Will Jacks (25 off 12), Jos Buttler (38 off 23), and Sam Curran (24 off 13) also provided valuable runs, pushing the final score to 217.
However, the West Indies’ reply was even more explosive. Evin Lewis smashed 68 runs off just 31 balls, including seven sixes and four fours, while Shai Hope contributed a vital 54 off 24 balls. Their explosive 9.1-over partnership laid the foundation for victory, despite a brief wobble when three wickets fell in quick succession in the ninth over. Rovman Powell (38 off 23) also played a crucial role in steering the team home.
Lewis was named Player of the Match for his blistering innings. Hope reflected on the team’s improved performance, stating, “We had to assess the conditions. That’s one thing we struggled with in the first three games in the power play…the main thing was to try and understand the conditions and come out of the power play on top.”
The win, while not affecting the overall series result, provided a much-needed morale boost for the West Indies. Remarkably, every match in both the T20 and preceding ODI series has been won by the team winning the toss.
