Sun Nov 17 02:15:34 UTC 2024: ## Wilmington, Ohio to Host Premiere of “Nutcrackers” Featuring Local Brothers
**WILMINGTON, OH** – The historic Murphy Theatre in Wilmington will host a special premiere screening of the new holiday film *Nutcrackers* on November 15th at 7 p.m. The film, starring Ben Stiller and Linda Cardellini, boasts a unique connection to the town, having been partially filmed in Wilmington at the Murphy Theatre, a local dance studio, and a family farm.
*Nutcrackers*, a heartwarming comedy, follows Stiller’s character as he unexpectedly becomes the caregiver for his four orphaned nephews, played by the real-life Janson brothers. The film’s director, David Gordon Green, was inspired by the Jansons, whose family farm served as a filming location. The boys’ mother is a friend and former classmate of Green’s from film school.
The film’s several-week shoot earlier this year brought a significant economic boost to Wilmington, according to Mayor Patrick Haley. He anticipates a large turnout for the premiere, expecting visitors to patronize local restaurants and potentially extend their stay. Haley attributes Wilmington’s appeal to filmmakers to its friendly atmosphere, cooperative residents, lack of bureaucratic hurdles, and picturesque setting.
This isn’t Wilmington’s first foray into the film industry; parts of the 1993 film *Lost in Yonkers* were also shot there. With *Nutcrackers* debuting on Hulu November 29th, the premiere screening offers a chance to celebrate the film and its strong local ties. Several cast and crew members, including the Janson brothers, are expected to attend. Mayor Haley hopes this experience will attract further film productions to Wilmington in the future, citing the town’s convenient location near major Ohio cities.
