Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – The Red Sea Film Festival (RSFF) announced the selection of 38 feature film and television projects for its Project Market, the Red Sea Souk. The market, running alongside the festival from December 5th to 14th, will showcase diverse works from across Asia and Africa.

Among the notable selections are Asmae El Moudir’s Moroccan debut feature “Holy Cow,” following a truck driver facing unexpected consequences, and CJ ‘Fiery’ Obasi’s “La Pyramide,” a co-production spanning the US, Brazil, Senegal, the UK and Nigeria. Obasi describes the film as an extension of his Sundance-selected thriller, “Mami Wata.”

The 38 projects are categorized into ‘in development,’ Lodge projects (many of which are debut features), works-in-progress, and SeriesLab titles. Other highlights include Damien Hauser’s Swiss-Kenyan co-production “Memory Of Princess Mumbi” and Levan Koguashvili’s Georgian civil war drama, “Guria.” Emerging talent is also represented, with Sofia Alaoui, a 2022 Screen Arab Star of Tomorrow, presenting her thriller “Tarfaya.”

Red Sea Souk director Holly Daniel highlighted the originality and talent showcased in this year’s selection, noting the market’s expansion to include projects from across Asia for the first time. Selected projects are eligible for awards totaling over $880,000, continuing the festival’s commitment to supporting emerging filmmakers.
