**Alappuzha, Kerala – November 17, 2024** – Two men, identified as Santhosh Selvam and Manikandan, both Tamil Nadu natives, have been arrested in connection with a series of thefts in Mannancherry, Alappuzha, on October 29th. Police confirmed the suspects are linked to the notorious Kuruva gang.

Santhosh, who briefly escaped police custody, was recaptured and brought to Mannancherry on Sunday for evidence collection. Alappuzha Deputy Superintendent of Police M.R. Madhu Babu stated that Santhosh has confessed to involvement in approximately 30 thefts across various locations and is linked to eight cases in Kerala alone. He confirmed that Santhosh is a member of a 12-14 person Kuruva gang currently operating in Kerala. Further arrests are anticipated.

While Manikandan’s arrest has yet to be officially recorded, police are investigating the potential involvement of a group of women who protested at the Mannancherry police station, claiming the men were wrongly accused. The police dismissed these claims and stated that the women’s role in the thefts is also under investigation. The investigation continues.
