Sat Nov 16 19:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Pennsylvania Hunters Get Three Sundays of Expanded Hunting Opportunities; Sunday Hunting Ban Repeal Hopeful

**Harrisburg, PA** – Pennsylvania hunters will enjoy expanded hunting opportunities over the next three Sundays, as the Pennsylvania Game Commission permits hunting on all three, despite the ongoing Sunday hunting restrictions. This temporary expansion includes archery deer and bear hunting in select wildlife management units (WMUs 2B, 5B, 5C, and 5D) this Sunday, followed by the opening of bear season and rifle deer season on subsequent Sundays. Squirrel, pheasant, rabbit, and grouse hunting will also be allowed on all three Sundays. Hunters on private land must possess written permission from the landowner. Turkey and migratory game bird hunting remain prohibited on Sundays.

While this temporary reprieve offers welcome news to hunters, the Game Commission remains optimistic that a permanent lifting of the Sunday hunting ban is on the horizon. A bill to eliminate the restriction passed the State House in June but stalled in the Senate. The bill will be reintroduced in the new legislative session, giving hunters hope for unrestricted Sunday hunting in 2024. Game Commission Communications Director Travis Lau expressed confidence in the bill’s prospects.
