Sun Nov 17 01:48:00 UTC 2024: ## Bengaluru’s Kadalekai Parishe Goes Fee-Free for Vendors

**Bengaluru, November 17, 2024** – This year’s Kadalekai Parishe, Bengaluru’s iconic groundnut fair, will be held in Basavanagudi on November 25th and 26th, with a significant change: the Karnataka state government has announced it will waive all vendor fees.

For the first time in its history, vendors will not be charged for setting up stalls at the fair, a decision announced by Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy following a Wednesday review meeting. The Minister stated that the move aims to make the centuries-old tradition more inclusive. Previously, the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department collected fees from participating vendors.

Meanwhile, a separate Kadalekai Parishe, organized by a private group in Malleswaram, is currently underway, running from Friday to Monday. Organizers, Geleyara Balaga, are promoting a plastic-free event, having distributed 4,000 paper bags and 6,000 cloth bags to vendors.
