**Mexico City, Mexico** – Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark was crowned Miss Universe 2024 in a glittering ceremony held at Arena CDMX in Mexico City. The 73rd edition of the pageant saw 125 contestants vying for the title.
Thelvig bested a strong field of finalists. Chidimma Adansi of Nigeria was the first runner-up, followed by Maria Fernanda Beltran of Mexico in second place. Opal Suchata Chuangsri from Thailand secured third place, and Iliana Marquez of Venezuela finished fourth.
India’s Rhea Singh made it to the Top 30 but did not advance to the Top 12.
The new Miss Universe received the “Lumière de l’Infini” crown, meaning “Light of Infinity.” This special crown, crafted over two years by Filipino artisans, features 23 golden South Sea pearls and diamonds, symbolizing women’s empowerment. Last year’s winner, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua, passed on the crown.
During the final question-and-answer segment, Theilvig was asked how she would live her life differently if she knew no one would judge her. She responded that she wouldn’t change a thing, emphasizing learning from mistakes and embracing positivity.
