**MULANTHURUTHY, KERALA – November 17, 2024** – A 58-year-old man, Anil Kumar, died in a suspected cooking gas cylinder explosion at his rented house in Mulanthuruthy on Saturday evening. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. Kumar, who lived alone on the first floor, was the sole occupant at the time. The ground floor tenant was absent.
The explosion resulted in a significant fire that completely destroyed the house. Fire and rescue services from the Mulanthuruthy station spent several hours extinguishing the blaze. Kumar’s body was recovered and transported to the Thripunithura taluk hospital mortuary.
Police sources stated that it is unclear whether one or both gas cylinders present in the building exploded, and the cause of the blast remains under investigation pending a scientific examination.
