**IRINJALAKUDA, Thrissur, November 17, 2024** – A major employment fair in Thrissur, Kerala, has successfully placed over 500 job seekers, with a strong focus on empowering women. The CONNECT 2024 fair, organized by the Kudumbashree Thrissur District Mission, saw participation from 42 employers across sectors including IT, banking, insurance, and hospitality. Over 1,200 individuals attended, with initial interviews resulting in over 500 placements.

Higher Education and Social Justice Minister R. Bindu inaugurated the event, emphasizing the importance of women’s economic independence. She highlighted Kudumbashree’s role in training women to become entrepreneurs, stating that “Educated women are the wealth of the State.” The fair, part of the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) and Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission projects, aimed to connect job seekers aged 18 to 40 with suitable opportunities and offered free skill training to youth aged 18 to 35.

Latha Chandran, vice-president of the Thrissur district panchayat, chaired the event, with Lalitha Balan, president of Irinjalakuda block panchayat, serving as chief guest. The success of CONNECT 2024 underscores the initiative’s commitment to bridging the skills gap and promoting economic empowerment in the region.
