**Khammam, Telangana:** Seven newly appointed teachers in Khammam district have been dismissed from their jobs just 24 days after receiving their appointment letters from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The shocking development has sparked outrage and raised questions about the verification process of the District Education Office (DEO).
The teachers, who had celebrated their appointments with family and friends, received termination letters on Thursday, after only a month on the job and just days after receiving their first salary. They were informed that they were ineligible for the positions due to discrepancies in their application qualifications, a mistake allegedly discovered only after the teachers had commenced their duties.
The DEO, Somasekhar Sharma, attributed the error to an oversight during certificate verification. However, the affected teachers are furious, questioning why the ineligibility wasn’t identified during the initial verification process. They express anger at being allowed to work for 24 days, only to be abruptly dismissed. The teachers claim that the DEO’s office attempted to quietly resolve the matter without informing them beforehand, replacing them with other candidates.
The incident has cast a shadow over the Khammam district’s reputation for excellence in education. The teachers, who were posted at various ZPHS schools across the district including Vensur, Madhira, Kusumanchi, Errupalem, and Konijerla mandals, are now demanding an explanation and questioning the DEO’s negligence. This incident comes amidst ongoing investigations into allegations of favoritism in previous DSC (District Selection Committee) appointments in the district. Local ministers are urged to intervene and address this issue promptly. The incident highlights serious concerns about the verification process and the impact on the lives of the affected teachers.
