Sat Nov 16 18:20:00 UTC 2024: ## JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon Declines Trump Administration Role, Offers Economic Advice

**NEW YORK** – JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon has definitively ruled out joining a potential Trump administration, despite previous speculation and even a statement from President-elect Trump himself offering him a position. While flattered by the offer, Dimon stated at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation CEO Summit that he hasn’t had a boss in 25 years and isn’t about to start now.

Trump, in a post on Truth Social, stated that he respects Dimon greatly but will not be inviting him to join his administration. This follows earlier statements from Trump expressing interest in Dimon for a role such as Treasury Secretary, though he later backtracked, claiming the suggestion originated from the “Radical Left.”

Despite declining the offer, Dimon expressed concern over the complex geopolitical and economic landscape facing the incoming administration, warning of the most challenging situation since World War II. He urged the President-elect to approach policy-making with care and consideration.

Dimon also addressed Trump’s proposed tariff policies, which include significant levies on imports from China and other countries. He advised business leaders to “read his book: create options,” referring to Trump’s “The Art of the Deal,” suggesting a pragmatic approach to navigating the potential impact of these tariffs. While acknowledging potential concerns, Dimon suggested that the tariffs might at least facilitate negotiations.

JPMorgan Chase analysts, meanwhile, have met with Trump advisors and remain relatively calm about the immediate impact of the tariffs, citing potential for gradual implementation and reciprocal negotiations. The analysts noted discussions regarding a phased approach to allow businesses time to adapt.
