**Hyderabad, November 13, 2024** – Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has accused former minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) of fleeing to Delhi to evade questioning in an ongoing race scam investigation. Reddy stated that the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is ready to question KTR but requires the Governor’s permission under Section 17A, a permission that has been pending for 15 days. He alleges that KTR’s trip to Delhi, and the reported subsequent attempt to summon the Governor there, is a tactic to avoid accountability.
Reddy further implicated a clandestine relationship between the BJP and BRS, suggesting KTR’s recent actions contradict his previous criticisms of the BJP’s corruption. He highlighted the BRS government’s allocation of crores of rupees worth of projects to Sujan Reddy, son-in-law of former BRS MLA Upender Reddy, as evidence of alleged corruption and questioned the lack of investigation into the matter. Reddy also criticized KTR for campaigning against the Congress in Maharashtra, suggesting a tacit understanding with the BJP.
The Chief Minister also used the opportunity to criticize the BJP’s governance at the national level, highlighting the increased national debt and accusing the BJP of favoring corporate interests over the needs of farmers, women, and the unemployed. He contrasted the BJP’s policies with the Congress’s proposed guarantees and emphasized the need for a more equitable distribution of resources between North and South India. Reddy suggested that the current system disproportionately favors North Indian states in terms of central funding.
Reddy commented on the need for the Congress to adapt its election strategy, suggesting a shift from a “Test match” approach to a more dynamic “T20” strategy. He advocated for a clear Modi vs. Rahul Gandhi contest in national elections, emphasizing the importance of local issues and effective branding.
Reddy concluded by criticizing the BRS government’s handling of protests, highlighting the irony of KTR and Harish Rao now protesting at the same place where they previously restricted protests when in power. He also emphasized the need for a more transparent and efficient system of governance, suggesting a mobile application that would allow citizens to directly report their issues.
