Sun Nov 17 05:30:00 UTC 2024: **Wisconsin Volleyball Sweeps USC in Dominant Performance**
LOS ANGELES, CA – The No. 6 Wisconsin Badgers volleyball team dominated No. 23 USC on Thursday night, securing a 3-0 sweep (25-18, 25-19, 25-12) in a commanding performance. Sarah Franklin led the Badgers with a match-high 13 kills, while Carter Booth contributed nine. Wisconsin’s strong offensive performance, hitting .333, contrasted sharply with USC’s .079 hitting percentage.
The Badgers controlled the tempo throughout the match, building significant leads in each set. A key factor in Wisconsin’s victory was their superior blocking, with a 9.0 to 2.0 advantage, including six blocks in the final set alone. Anna Smrek led the blocking effort with six total blocks. Wisconsin also excelled in service aces, totaling seven, with Franklin and Julia Orzol each contributing two. Charlie Fuerbringer, in her homecoming game, nearly achieved a triple-double with nine digs and 35 assists. Lola Schumacher led the team in digs with 10.
USC’s Ally Batenhorst led her team with eight kills, but the Trojans struggled to overcome Wisconsin’s consistent offensive pressure and strong defensive play.
The Badgers will continue their California trip with a match against UCLA on Saturday night.
