Sun Nov 17 06:25:57 IST 2024: ## One-Member Commission Begins Work on SC Sub-Caste Classification
**Hyderabad, [Date]:** The one-member commission, headed by Justice Dr. Shamima Akhtar, tasked with studying the sub-caste classification within the Scheduled Castes (SC) community, officially commenced its work on Monday. Justice Akhtar inaugurated the commission’s office in Block B, on the first floor of the Burgula Ramakrishna Rao Government Office Building.
The commission will accept petitions and opinions from SC communities and individuals regarding the sub-caste classification. Submissions can be made in person at the office from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM, or via email at onemancommission.scsc@gmail.com. Syed Abdul Rafeque will be receiving the submissions at the office.
According to C. Sridhar, the special officer for the Commission of Inquiry, over 2600 petitions have already been received – more than 2500 online and over 100 offline. These were collected by the SC Welfare Department Directorate and will be forwarded to the commission. The commission will now begin reviewing these submissions as part of its study.
